Types of White Wine



Albarino

Mainly grown in Spain, very nice on the nose, with hints of apricots and peaches.




Chardonnay

Extremely poplular and grown worldwide. It's used to make a lot of sparkling wines, however, regular wine is where its at. They tend to be a bit buttery with hints of caramel, cream, smoke, cinnamon, spice, cloves and vanilla. (This one is a panty dropper)




Chenin Blanc

Well known as a French grown grape but it is grown world wide as well. Its used to make dry whites, sparkling wine, dessert wines and brandies. They tend to be sweet and full bodied with fairly high acidity levels. They often have hints of quince and apples.




Gewürztraminer

Grown world wide but thrives in cooler enviroments. Highly aromatic with hints of floral and passion fruit. They are highly refreshing and go great with spicy food.




Muscat

A globally versatile grape that thrives in a multitude of different environments and can be used in many different types of applications such as table wine, sparkling wine, brandies and liquors. It's successfully being grown in California.




Pinot Griss (a.k.a. Pinot Grigio)

This is just a mutated pinot noir. They tend to be a little bit lighter with hints of cinnamon, apple, pear, vanilla, almond and smoke. This wine is said to be better when its young




Riesling

Vineyards growing these can be found worldwide but most are found in the Rhine region of Germany. It's very aromatic wine with hints or petrol and floral. The grape can be used to make dry, simi-dry and sparkling wines.




Torrontes

Argentina's premier white grape. They tend to be very aromatic with a fresh, fruit forward taste.




Viognier

Grown world wide but at its peak was found around the Rhone regions of France. They tend to be dry with hints of floral. Similar to Rieslings or Muscat.
